For Welcoming Week come and join us at Photoville, in picturesque Brooklyn Bridge Plaza, from September 12-22, 2019. Located in Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO beneath the majestic span of the Brooklyn Bridge— will be transformed into an immersive photography village populated by 90+ shipping containers repurposed into galleries.
A completely free, public photography festival, bellow we have highlighted the exhibitions, talks, workshops and events connected to immigration and community.

Exhibition photographs and videos of IRC's work in the U.S. explores the arc of resettlement; different types of arrivals and welcomes, as well as our organization's long commitment to rebuilding lives and communities. The visual display will illustrate the journey to resettlement, the value that new Americans add to our communities, and the consequences of the administration’s dangerous policies.

The Department of Records and Information Services, offers a selection of historical photographs from its Municipal Archives, featuring images of immigrants in the city. These images show everyday scenes in various communities, provoking the viewer to–potentially–reconsider the identity of immigrants during a volatile period in our country’s history.

Photoville presents Absent Monuments: Brooklyn Waterfront which tells the tales of Brooklyn’s historically bustling waterfront, including: mercantilism, colonization, war, abolitionism, woman’s activism, immigration, and modern urbanization. The various scenes are surrounded by floral tiles, a motif that honors the region's Native American people, and acknowledges other periods of cultural displacement that have occurred in Brooklyn.
